I’m researching starting a global foreign language program in our Modesto City Schools district (33,000 students), K-12.

Could you possibly send me any information you think may help us start a program like yours?

    Thank you so much.

Kimberly, thanks for your posting on the Starr King Elementary website (in SF). You requested information on starting an immersion program like the new Mandarin Immersion Program we started just 2 years ago. I was one of the parents who initially approached the district about starting the program, and I chaired the planning meetings with the district. Though I could tell you a lot from the perspective of a parent/community member, the SFUSD Multilingual Programs Dept. and members of the Board could provide you with a lot of district-level detail about how this program got started. You could write to me directly via email and I could give you more detail.

I think it’s great Modesto schools are looking into this!
