Academic programs
Starr King has four programs within one building, all bound by the same core values that make our community special.
- General Education
- A rigorous English-language academic program which covers all the content areas as well as providing students with opportunities to extend their learning.
- Special Education
- An autism-specific special day program as well as a full inclusion program and RSP services.
- Spanish Bilingual
- A rigorous program that helps students become academically proficient in English while building proficiency in Spanish.
- Mandarin Immersion
- A new program for students who want to be bilingual and biliterate in Mandarin and English.
The four strands all strive to give students the tools necessary to communicate and work effectively with their peers, and students in every program interact regularly with all the students at Starr King.
Over the past several years we have built a program that has resulted in the highest API growth of any elementary school in San Francisco Unified, and we have done that by valuing children, their families, and the importance of excellent teaching.
Decisions at Starr King are made based on one simple criterion: what is in the best interest of the children. With this in mind we have put together programs and supports that we believe offer a unique chance for children to succeed.
