StageWrite: Building Literacy through Theatre has been at Starr King for 11 years, longer than all of us have been here! It’s an enrichment that every student experiences. In kinder and 1st, Elana and her team of teaching artists work with the littles through exploring the internalization and externalization of emotions and conflict resolution through stories. In 2nd and 3rd grades, kids start dramatizing stories, acting, and performing for classmates and parents. In 4th and 5th grades, students write plays, which are performed by actors at school. Each year, a handful of these plays are further developed and performed in a professionally produced performance at the Brava, a beautiful theatre in the neighborhood right on 24th street! Come support the show which is fun for ALL ages from pre-k through adult.
